Years of continuous grassroots service
A grassroots movement that grew into a trusted institution.
The Aku Cultural and Development Association was founded in 2008 in Wum, Menchum Division, by community members who believed that education, dialogue, and cultural pride could change the trajectory of an entire region. What began as neighbours organising around school fees and local peacebuilding has grown into a structured, transparent organisation with documented outcomes.
Today ACUDA works across Menchum Division and beyond, supporting vulnerable learners, mentoring emerging leaders, advancing inclusive civic participation, and preserving the oral history and identity of the Aku Fulani people. Our approach stays close to the ground: community nomination, field verification, honest reporting, and long term accompaniment.
